Multi Disciplinary Team

Good teamwork is at the heart of the Multi Disciplinary Team which enables the provision of effective, comprehensive mental health care. We consider meeting the patients needs is the primary task of the MDT.

We currently employ 3 Consultant Psychiatrists who are all locally based and are members of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, are all section 12 (1983 MHA) approved and are registered for CPD and CCST accredited. They have all worked in NHS Low Secure environments.

Our Consultant Psychiatrists:

Dr Ben Akande - Medical Director. 

Dr Akande has worked in the NHS for over ten years as a Psychiatrist, and has been a Clinical Director for a mental health trust recently as 2007.  Dr Akande specializes in adults with mental illness, older adults and adults with organic brain disorders. He is also trained in psychotherapy.

Dr Peter Marshall

Dr Marshall has worked as a Consultant in the NHS for several years and specializes in adult mental health rehabilitation and dual diagnosis including substance misuse.

Dr TIna Henshall

Dr Henshall works part time in the NHS and specializes in women's mental health rehabilitation and liaison psychiatry.

Other Key Member of Our MDT:

As a group we employ over 30 Registered Mental Health Nurses (RMN's) with there being at least 2 being on shift per unit (Not including the Hospital Manager). Overall we like to work with a high staff to patient ratio which enables us to manage difficult mental health conditions effectively.

Occupational Therapy plays an important part of the organization and our team. So because of this focus we employ 3 fully trained OT's (1 of whom leads of Clinical Governance Team) and 3 OT Techs (one of whom we are supporting in her training to become a qualified OT).

In additions to the above we also employ a Counsellor/ Cognitive Behavioral Therapist and a Alternative Therapist.
