Philosophy of Care

The multi professional team strives to preserve and maintain dignity, individuality and privacy of all patients and in doing so will be sensitive to patients needs.

Patients are encouraged to participate in the development of their individual care plans in which the involvement of the family, friends and other health care professionals may be appropriate and is greatly valued.

Identified needs are met through an agreed range of group and individual activities designed to improve mental health and well being with the emphasis on psychosocial intervention and behavioural modification techniques.

Age is not an influential factor that differentiates care. Adults and Older people are individuals who have the right to make mental health care decisions, which incorporate personal values and beliefs, respecting and maintaining privacy, dignity, independence, security and confidentiality.

At the John Munroe Hospital Group Adults and Older people supported to develop their full potential, maximising their capabilities, and acknowledging the concept and right of self determination within realistic goals.

The mental health hospital group is committed to the principles of quality assurance and the importance of patient opinion. The mental health hospital groups principle aim is to ensure that the patients are well informed and have freedom of choice, that the patient's voice is heard and that they are active partners in the process of change.
