Edith Shaw Hospital is a 12 bedded independent hospital which aims to provide mental health rehabilitation in a secure, relaxed and homely environment in which quality care, well being, security and comfort are of prime importance.

The hospital provides on-going rehabilitation and we follow the applicable standards from the Department of Health Mental Health Policy Implementation Guide for Psychiatric Intensive Care and Low Secure Environments with regard to relational, physical and environmental security.

The Edith Shaw Hospital aims to follow the relevant standards of the NSF for older people:

Our hospital is a non acute unit designed to provide on going care for individuals with severe and enduring mental illness who are judged to be too chaotic or unwell to tolerate the environment of a residential place in the community. The hospital provides 24 hour nursing care, psychiatric treatment and rehabilitation, regular input from a multidisciplinary psychiatric team, with the patient under the day to day care of a psychiatric consultant.
