John Munroe Hospital Summer Fete 2010
On Friday the 17th of September, a summer fete was held in the scenic and peaceful sensory garden area of John Munroe Hospital.
The fete was facilitated for all patients, and many chose to be involved with the decision making from the onset, for example, choosing which stalls would be available, which staff would face a wet sponge throwing experience, and where decorations would be placed.
For several weeks preceding the Fete, patients enjoyed spending time with staff making items to 'sell' on Fete stalls such as bookmarks, cakes and jewellery boxes.
An air of excitement began to develop throughout the hospitals, along with flourishing ideas, craftsmanship and creativity.
Patients decided there would be a cake, arts and crafts, clothing and book stall with a wide variety of games and activities going on including "X marks the spot" and egg and spoon races.
Generous donations began arriving, enough to enable every patient to have at least one item from each stall.
