The John Munroe Private Psychiatric Hospital Group is a provider of individualized, high quality, mental health 'intensive and slow stream' rehabilitation.

Operating in Staffordshire, we build upon over 23 years experience in psychiatric hospital provision.

The John Munroe Hospital Group is a midlands based, but national provider of independent mental health care, rehabilitation and treatment - our services have become formulation led which is a psychology led approach involving the whole multidisciplinary team and individualised planning and treatments.

We currently have two private psychiatric hospitals.

West Midlands: The John Munroe Hospital is a private psychiatric hospital, based in Rudyard, Staffordshire for patients with complex mental health problems aged 18 and above.

It has 54 beds and has been established as a private/independent psychiatric hospital for over 8 years.

The services of the hospital is detailed as follows:

Horton Ward

It is a fifteen bed low secure unit for male and female patients who present with challenging behaviour and severe and enduring mental illness. The majority of patients are detained under the Mental Health Act (1983) on a Section 3 or a 37/41.

Coxon Ward

It is a twenty eight (28) bed locked unit and provides rehabilitation for male and female patients. This unit is often a natural pathway from Horton Unit and accommodates individuals with severe and enduring mental illness, early onset dementia and challenging behaviour.

The Larches (Male Rehab Bungalow) and High Ash (Female Rehab Bungalow):

The Larches is a male only, six bedded intermediate rehabilitation bungalow. High Ash is a female only, five bedded intermediate rehabilitation bunglow.

The bungalows are situated within the extensive hospital grounds, independent from the main hospital.

They both have their own therapy kitchen/dining room, lounge and extensive garden facilities.

Patients are encouraged to develop independent life skills such as budgeting, preparing meals and laundry.

West Midlands:

The Edith Shaw Hospital is a private psychiatric hospital, based in Leek, Staffordshire with complex mental health problems aged 45 and above.

It is a 12 bedded, female only, locked - with secure fencing, independent hospital which aims to provide mental health rehabilitation in a secure, relaxed and homely environment in which quality care, well being, security and comfort are of prime importance.
