Specialist Dementia Services

The John Munroe Group and its staff cohort have vast experience in managing the behaviors of males and females with challenging behaviors with an organic illness.

The approach at John Munroe Group (dependent on presentation and compliance at the time) would be to set out a behavioural management plan, which will be led by a Consultant Psychiatrist and a Consultant Psychologist.

Boredom is a problem for many inpatients of both sexes and may be a particular trigger for self-damaging or aggressive behaviors in men and women. Providing useful, constructive and supportive activities for men and women is as important for inpatients as it is for those in the community, meaningful activities for all our patients is an underlying principle of the John Munroe Group and its philosophy of care.

For our male and female cohort we offer all male and female activities and groups so that they can continue to work proactively towards their shared goals.

At the John Munroe Group we feel its important that male and female inpatients are assessed and treated as individuals. An inpatient stay not only provides the crucial opportunity for men and women to be offered the clinical and therapeutic support that they need, it may also provide a breathing space to allow them to sort out some of the wider problems in their lives (for example, housing and benefit problems).

We offer our male and female cohort the opportunity to work with male and/or female only staff where possible.

At the John Munroe Group we are always looking at ways in which we can improve our care and treatments for our patient groups, which is why we always welcome feedback.
